The whole lock is the handle. A fingerprint ring sits at the rose, the digits run down the lever itself, and behind it is a tubular latch rather than a full mortise case — which is exactly why it will go onto a door that was never routed for a digital lock.

Who is this lock actually for?
It is for the door you did not want to cut. A tubular latch drops into the same round hole an ordinary handle already uses, so fitting it means boring a standard latch prep instead of machining a deep mortise pocket into the leaf.
That makes it the obvious answer for a bedroom, a home office, a store room or a secondary door — and the obvious wrong answer for a front door, which we would rather tell you here than after you have paid. A latch is not a deadbolt.

No mortise pocket neededThe other models want a rectangular pocket routed into the edge of the leaf. This one uses the round cross-bore an ordinary handle already sits in.

Far less risk to the doorLess cutting means less chance of splitting a hollow-core leaf or weakening a thin one. On a rented unit that matters.

Everything is in the handleNo separate escutcheon plate top and bottom. On a narrow or glazed door there is simply nowhere for a full panel to sit.

What you give up by choosing a tubular latch
The part nobody selling one of these tends to write down.
So we position it honestly: excellent for convenience and access control on internal and secondary doors, and for keeping a store room or office shut without handing out keys. Not what we would fit on the door between your family and the street. If that is the door you are trying to solve, ask us about the M Series instead.

Questions people actually ask about this lock

Will it fit my existing door without new holes?
Usually, if your door already has a standard round handle prep. That is the whole point of a tubular latch. Send us a photo of the door edge and the existing handle and we will confirm before anyone is booked.

Can I use it on my front door?
You can, but we would rather you did not, and we have written why above: it holds the door with a latch bolt rather than a deadbolt. For a main entrance we recommend the M Series, which is also the only model in the range with an independent test report.

What happens if the battery dies?
There is a mechanical key override. Keep that key outside the house — in your car, at a neighbour’s, in your bag — not in the room the lock is protecting.

Why do some of the specification rows say “pending”?
Because we have the lock and the photographs, but no datasheet — and we went looking properly before writing that. We checked our photographs against every one of the twelve models in the manufacturer’s 2025 catalogue: this lock is not in it. Every lock in that range has a keypad panel beside the handle, and this one has the keypad on the lever with no panel at all, so its figures are genuinely unpublished rather than merely un-looked-up. We would rather show you the gap than copy numbers off a lock that resembles it. We have asked Smartverse, and this page changes the day they answer.

Which app do I install?
The Smartverse App, paired through the Smartverse Hub — the Hub is the gateway hardware, the App is the phone app. These are Tuya-platform locks, so Tuya works too. Note the specification rows above still say pending for this model’s network and battery figures: we have the lock and the app route confirmed, but not yet a published datasheet, and we are not going to invent the numbers.

Not declared, so treat it as an indoor lock. Nothing in this range should go on a fully rain-exposed door.
