What the test report actually says

Most smart-lock listings say “military grade” and cite nothing. The M Series has a real test report, so here it is in plain English — including the parts that are not flattering.

“What happens when the battery dies?”

The most-asked question about digital locks anywhere, in every language we checked. It deserves a procedure, not a promise.

  It warns you first The lock beeps and flags low battery well before it stops. You get days of notice, not minutes.

  Mechanical key always works Every lock we supply has a real key override. Keep that key somewhere that is not inside the house.

  USB-C emergency power Flat battery and no key? A normal power bank on the outside panel powers the lock long enough to open it.

Runs on 4×AA. Going away for a month or two? Change the batteries before you fly and it is a non-issue.

This is the part most sellers leave to you. On Malaysian forums people ask strangers for an installer contact — because buying the lock was never the hard bit.

  Every technician on the network is verified before taking jobs. Security doors, aluminium stiles and multi-point leaves are ordinary Malaysian locksmith work — but if a job needs a skill we are not confident about, we will not send someone to learn on your door.

Questions people actually ask us

Worded the way they arrive.

• Can I install a digital lock without changing my door?

  Usually yes — that is the normal job. The M and F series need a mortise pocket, which most Malaysian entrance doors already have. If yours was never routed for one, the T series uses a tubular latch instead and needs far less cutting. We confirm from a photo before quoting.

• My door is 35 mm thick. Will it fit?

  Yes — the M series covers 35–55 mm leaves with a 60 or 70 mm backset. Below 35 mm or on a narrow aluminium stile, the A series is the right family instead. Send a photo with a tape measure in frame and we will read it off for you.

• I have a security door with three locking points. Does the digital lock control all of them?

  Ask us before ordering. A digital lock replaces the lock case it is fitted to — on a multi-point door, whether the upper and lower bolts are driven depends on the existing gear. This is a measure-first job and we will not guess it from a description.

• Can a locksmith open a digital door lock?

  We are locksmiths, so: yes, generally, using non-destructive methods and after verifying you have the right to enter. That is a feature, not a flaw — it is how you get back in when the electronics fail. We do not publish techniques.

• Are digital locks actually safe, or just convenient?

  Both, honestly. The M series carries a real independent test report — BS EN 14846:2008, classification 2B40-0100 — and its security digit is 1, the minimum grade, with no drill resistance. It is graded for office-door duty and 100,000 cycles. If your threat model is a determined attack rather than convenience and access control, tell us and we will quote mechanical hardware alongside it.

• Does the fingerprint still work with wet or worn hands?

  Less reliably — this is a real limitation, not a defect. Wet, very dry or worn fingerprints read poorly on any semiconductor sensor. That is why every lock we supply also takes a PIN, an NFC card, the app and a key. We set up at least two methods per person before we leave.

• Is it OEM? Where is it actually made?

  Fair question and a common one about smart locks. Smartverse is the brand of Signature Smartverse Sdn Bhd, part of the Signature International / Chin Hin group, and MyLock is an authorised reseller. The M Series was tested in Malaysia by SIRIM QAS International under report 2026MA0740; the flagship F Series has no equivalent report — we explain why on its page. We will not make claims beyond what that report and the brochure say.

• How much including installation?

  We quote supplied-and-fitted in writing before we start, because that is the number that matters. It depends on the model and what your door needs, so the photo check comes first. No deposit to get a quote.
