A Series Aluminium Sliding Door Lock

SVDLAI001BK · push-pull handle · aluminium sliding & swing

Built for an aluminium frame, where a standard escutcheon simply will not sit on the stile. Full-height pull handle on both sides, keypad and fingerprint on the outside, and twin hook bolts in the lock body — hook bolts are what actually hold a sliding leaf shut.

We confirm the fit from a photo before we book anyone

Some doors need extra work — a different backset, a thicker leaf, a frame that needs packing — and that changes the number. Send a photo and we confirm in writing what it costs on your door. No deposit for a quote, and if your door is not worth fitting to, we will tell you.

Will it fit an aluminium sliding door?

That is what it is for. It takes a door leaf from 26 mm thick — nine millimetres thinner than the M Series will go — and the lock body carries twin hook bolts, which hook into the jamb rather than pushing a bolt at it. A sliding leaf cannot be held any other way.

The number we still need is your stile width — the width of the aluminium frame beside the glass. It is the measurement that decides this, it is not published, and it varies enormously between Malaysian window contractors. Send a photo with a tape measure across the stile and we will give you a straight answer before you commit.

About that IP66 rating — read this before you put it outside

It is a real rating. It is not the same rating people assume it is.

What IP66 means: the manufacturer’s datasheet declares the unit dust-tight and protected against powerful water jets. That is a genuine ingress test and it is more than the M Series can claim.
What it does not mean: it is not a corrosion or humidity durability declaration. Those are different tests measuring different things — one asks whether water gets in today, the other asks what Malaysian coastal air does to the metal over years. We hold an independent EN 14846 report for the M Series only, and this model does not have one.
So, practically: a sheltered balcony slider, a covered walkway or a shopfront under an awning — fine. A leaf that takes direct driving rain and sun all day, every day — we would still rather not, and we will tell you so before we quote.

Sliding door, or gate?

The most common question we get in Malaysia, and the two are not the same problem.

A grill gate is still a different job

This model is closer to a gate answer than anything else in the range — it takes a thinner leaf and it carries a declared ingress rating. But it is designed for an aluminium door, not a wrought-iron grill, and a grill usually has no stile wide enough to hold it and no shelter over it.

Read the grill-door guide → — the three realistic outcomes, the four measurements that decide it, and the point at which we tell you no.

Where every number on this page came from

Most smart-lock listings mix the manufacturer’s marketing with the seller’s guesswork and label the result a specification. Here is the provenance of ours, line by line, including the gaps.

Provenance for the SVDLAI001BK

  • A

Our own photographsThe handle set, the status indicators, the thumbturn and the twin hook-bolt lock body — all shot on our bench.

  • B

Manufacturer datasheetDoor thickness, users, battery, network, materials, fake-PIN length, languages and the IP66 rating.

  • C

SmartverseThe SKU, the 2-year warranty and the price.

  • Not verifiedMinimum stile width, and long-term corrosion behaviour. Neither is published, and both matter, so we measure rather than guess.

Why we bother printing this. We are a locksmith network, not the manufacturer. Telling you which numbers we measured, which we are repeating from a datasheet, and which nobody has published yet is the only honest way to sell a lock we did not build — and it is the difference between a specification and a sales sheet.

We supply it and we fit it

This is the part most sellers leave to you. On Malaysian forums people ask strangers for an installer contact — because buying the lock was never the hard bit.

  • Before you pay

Feasibility check, then a written price

Send a photo of your door. We confirm the body style fits, and quote supplied-and-fitted in writing before anyone is dispatched. If your door is not worth fitting to, we say so.

    • No deposit for a quote
    • Price agreed in writing first
    • We will tell you when the answer is no
  • On the day

    A verified technician, not a first-timer

Every technician on the network is verified before taking jobs. If a job needs a skill we are not confident about, we will not send someone to learn on your door.

    • Old lock removed and disposed of
    • Set up with your fingerprints and PINs before we leave
    • 2-year product warranty, honoured locally

Questions people actually ask about this lock

  • What is a hook bolt and why does a sliding door need one?

A normal deadbolt pushes straight out into the frame. On a sliding leaf that does nothing — the door slides along the bolt. A hook bolt swings out and hooks behind the jamb, so the leaf physically cannot travel. This lock has two of them.

  • Will it fit my balcony slider?

Probably, if the aluminium stile beside the glass is wide enough. That width is not something we can guess from a photo of the room — send a close photo of the stile with a tape measure across it and we will confirm.

  • Can I put it on my main gate?

Read the grill-door guide first. It is the closest model we have to a gate answer, but a wrought-iron grill usually has nowhere to mount it and no shelter over it.

  • Does IP66 mean it is waterproof forever?

No — and that distinction is worth understanding. IP66 says water does not get in under a jet test. It says nothing about what years of humidity and salt air do to the finish. We have an independent corrosion-relevant test report for the M Series only, and it is not flattering there either. Sheltered installations, please.

  • Is it the same lock as the SVDLAI002BK?

Same family, different door. This one is the push-pull handle for sliding leaves. The SVDLAI002BK is the lever version for hinged aluminium doors.
