| Duration | 2 days |
| Skill level | Beginner — no experience required |
| Format | On-site, hands-on, Klang Valley training venue |
| Dispatch category it prepares for | Door unlock, key cutting, basic residential |
Who this workshop is for
Complete newcomers to the trade — career-changers, renovators, handymen, or anyone wanting a foundation in practical locksmithing. No electrical or mechanical background is assumed. If you already work as a locksmith, this track is likely too basic — look at our Automotive or Advanced Locksmith tracks instead.
What you’ll learn (2 days, hands-on)
- How pin-tumbler and wafer lock mechanisms work, and the common failure modes you’ll meet on real jobs
- Key cutting on a manual machine, and key duplication technique
- Pin systems, rekeying basics, and how master-keying logic works
- Basic residential troubleshooting: stuck locks, worn cylinders, simple lockouts
- Safe, non-destructive entry concepts for basic residential door locks
This is a foundation, not a finish line. No short workshop anywhere makes you a master locksmith — real competence comes from time on real jobs. This workshop gives you the working model and tool familiarity to begin Phase 2 (apprenticeship/practice).
How it connects to real work
MyLock is an active WhatsApp-first dispatch network. Workshop graduates are eligible for the documented seven-step dispatch pathway. At the entry level, realistic starting dispatch categories are door unlock, key cutting, and basic residential work in your declared Klang Valley postcodes.
