Why MyLock exists

Vince built MyLock after seeing how hard it was for ordinary people to reach the right unlock professional at the moment they needed one. Over the years the locksmith trade has branched into distinct specialisms — conventional locks, safe boxes, automotive keys and immobilisers, and a small number of experts in ECU and board repair. A customer locked out of a car is not well served by a specialist in safes, and finding the right match by hand wastes time and money.

MyLock’s automated WhatsApp system was built to solve exactly that: it locates the right expertise, by skill and by location, and distributes each job to a suitable verified technician nearby. Matching the right professional to the right job lowers both the time a customer waits and the cost of getting there — a benefit shared by customers and technicians alike. The platform’s training workshop sustains that quality over the long term by bringing new people into the trade and passing locksmith skills on to the next generation.

Quality over disposable

Vince is also a believer in buying well once rather than often. Many mass-market security products today are cheap to make but wear out quickly — a typical low-cost padlock (around RM20) might last only a year or two, while a well-made one (around RM110) offers far stronger security and can stay reliable for decades. Through MyLock he aims to put genuinely durable, higher-quality products in front of the customers most likely to value them — for example, someone whose jammed lock needs replacing is better served by a quality replacement than by a throwaway one. The figures above are general market examples, not MyLock prices.

The through-line across the platform, the trade-body work, and the training workshop is the same: a shared-resource model that aims to benefit every side at once — the locksmith professionals who get matched to suitable work, the consumers who get the right help and lasting products, and the platform that connects them.

Role at GPPKM

GPPKM (gppkm.my) is a registered national trade association for the Malaysian locksmith industry (Registrar of Societies No. PPM-007-10-17042016). As Deputy President, Vince contributes to the association’s standards, member registry, and industry events. GPPKM is a neutral trade body; it does not dispatch jobs or set prices. Vince’s committee record is public on the GPPKM committee page.

Community & platform work

Beyond MyLock, Vince builds digital platforms for Malaysian trade, community, and cultural organisations through Inpixel Marketing, and runs his own tourism initiative:

  • Night Market Malaysia (nightmarket.my) — the night-market revival project of the GPPPPPKSKL hawkers federation, which Vince leads as project head. It lists verified pasar malam nationwide with an AI trip planner to lift vendor sales and tourism, and has engaged Malaysia’s Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (via Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung) ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026.
  • Persatuan Perayaan Yee Lan Pasar Borong Selangor (yulan.my) — the Selangor wholesale-market Yulan (Hungry Ghost) Festival cultural association, where Vince serves as a committee member (委员) and built the association’s website.
  • Gabungan Persatuan Penjaja-Penjaja dan Peniaga-Peniaga Kecil Selangor dan Kuala Lumpur (gpppppkskl.my) — the federation of hawkers and small traders of Selangor & Kuala Lumpur; Vince built its digital presence and leads the night-market revival initiative above.

Selected coverage of the night-market project: Sin Chew Daily · China Press (2025).
